Don’t Let Them Skip ,Spark Them ..
Let’s say we have a user who arrives with very low motivation and is presented with an onboarding form like the one below,
Since the user has low motivation, they are likely to choose "Skip" and move on to the next section without completing the form.
However, encouraging users to fill out this form can significantly help us personalize their experience and increase the chances of conversion.
By using spark triggers ,we can increase the motivation of the users to make them fill the form .
For Example ,
Instead of labeling the button simply as “Skip”, we could change it to “Skip Personalization”
This subtle change creates a sense of missing out, which can nudge users to complete the form.Since the form only asks for 3 basic fields, the effort required is low,and users have the ability to fill it and what they lacked is a spark to increase their motivation.
So, In situations where users have the ability, but lack the motivation, increasing motivation should be our go-to strategy.
It can be Highlighting fear( fear of missing out ) , inspiring hope ( promising a better experience) , or inducing a sense of belonging ( Join thousands of users like you...)
can be used to spark the motivation in users .
In the above example ,we have induced the fear of missing something important to spark the motivation with the user .
